Description
Circa 1920, mahogany toilet mirror by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh in a similar design to one by Sir Robert Lorimer in Hussey’s Life of Sir Robert Lorimer. With a Queen Anne style shaped and curved top and matching mahogany veneers left and right. The frame is shaped with a single beading on the outside and a half round inside. The mirror is hand bevelled and held in place by 2 uprights which have a fluted section in the front and finish with 2 simple finials. The back of the mirror is polished with fielded panels. At the base there is a shaped upright and beneath this is a scooped out tray for jewelry or accessories. This continues in to the 2 trestle ends and the whole piece finishes on excellent Lorimer style pad feet which are low and squat.
