Description
Circa 1780. A late George III mahogany, sabicu and inlaid shaped console table, the shaped top with segmented sabicu veneers with a large inlaid sunburst shell at the back framed in kingwood boxwood with broad cross banding, the shaped frieze with string inlay and a small oval satinwood panel in the center, with the frieze following the form of the top. The table rests on four stylish and elegant legs with carved capitols with an inverted arch, all cross banded, with insert sabicu panels on the facings and sides, finishing with carved blocks and a squat toe beneath The table has a great colour and presence.
