Description
Circa 1790. A George III mahogany and inlaid fold over card table with many Scottish characteristics. The hinged top in finely figured mahogany with string inlay, opens to reveal a mahogany interior with similar inlay, the fore-edge inlaid with double banding. The two back legs are hinged and swing out to support the top when open, the friezes in finely book matched flamed mahogany, framed within an inlaid panel on the front and the sides. The table rests on four elegant square tapering legs each with a stylish Gothic arch with a dot above. The facings with a flowers and tapering bell drops contained within a curvaceous inlaid, unusually the flower inlay is also on the back legs, all four legs on a stylish inlaid deep spayed feet.
