Description
Circa 1890, pine and beech framed Orkney chair. With straw back bound together by marram grass and its top rail with a weave of marran grass over the last row of straw. It retains the original marran grass seat and has traditional Orkney arms with a small curled section. The back legs are square, tapering and slightly outswept, and the front legs are square and tapering, all supported by stretchers.
