Description
Circa 1880. A pair of exhibition quality satinwood carved and gilded bedside pedestals of generous proportions, the tops in a silky satinwood with extended sections to the front, finished with elegant moulding on the top and beneath, the fronts has a configuration of five full length drawers. Each of the drawers with a cast brass knob handle, and gilded scratch carving, the inside of the drawers are polished and made in walnut (sign of quality) with the original locks which are stamped ‘Hobbs of London’. The drawers are flanked a pair of full carved column which includes many disciplines including gilding, carving and fluting. Beneath the bottom drawer there are further mouldings, which follow the form of the top and the pair rest on square legs at the back and carved and tapered conical feet at the front.
