Description
Circa 1890, large Chinese huanghauli pedestal. With pink variegated marble insert, segmented top and retail label attached to the underside of the stand saying ‘Edwards and Roberts, Upholstery Warehouse, Wardour Street, London’. Edward and Roberts only stocked quality items of furniture. It has a concave apron with gadrooned edges and leads on to foliate carved legs, which are styled like two C-scrolls meeting. A shaped stretcher connects all 4 legs, and they finish on an animalistic foot.
