Description
Circa 1810 and later, George III mahogany inlaid vin du gard, or wine box on stand. The box has a crossbanded, hinged top and large oval shell inlay in the centre, and inside are several shaped compartments. The front has a heraldic shaped mother of pearl escutcheon, and there are cast brass and gilded lifting handles. It stands on a simple stand with chequered inlay on the border, and tapering, slightly outswept legs.
