Description
Circa 1880, Chinese rosewood hall chair, the back with beautiful carvings of animal heads, flowers and some Chinese writing. There is a central circular inlay of white variegated marble and the seat has a slab of grey variegated marble set into it. The open arms have carved panels on the sides and each of these have two small inlays of shaped pieces of white marble. Beneath the seat is a small moulding and a neat sized apron with small scroll carvings and a flower head in the centre. All standing on four square legs with rounded corners at the front united by stretchers on all sides and finishing on small toes with a scroll carving on the front and sides. Original patination, excellent colour and sturdy.
