Description
Late 19th century pair of Empire revival side chairs. The chairs have a scrolled top rail with a cast flower head on each end. There are acanthus leaves falling from the top down into a recessed section on the front. A cast section can be seen on the top with a flower head and leaves to both sides. The centre panel at the back and the seat pad have been reupholstered in a rich red damask. An ormolu mount is found to the back of the base, and the large stuffover seat has a stylish beaded rail running around all of the chair. The back legs are square, panelled at the side and slightly out swept. The front legs are similar, with a winged lion on a podium, with the tips of the wings attached to the frame. These are in excellent condition.
