Description
Circa 1770, George III bureau in Spanish mahogany. The cross headed flap with fretted brass escutcheon has its original lock and keys. It opens to reveal a red leather writing surface and outstanding fitted interior with: shaped drawers, book slides, neoclassical pillars hiding secret compartments and cupboard with shell carved door. Beneath are 4 graduated, oak-lined, cock-beaded drawers with fretted brass handles and escutcheons flanked by quarter columns with gilded capitals and bases. This is all over a moulded base with ogee bracket feet.
