Description
Circa 1775, George III mahogany longcase clock by John Gibson of Edinburgh. The case has a stylish typical Edinburgh horn top with carved flowerheads on the ends of the horns, and two fluted full columns. The silver face has a calendar and Roman and Arabic numerals. There is stylish foliate engraving on the sides and mythical seahorses. The flame mahogany door is also typical of Edinburgh clocks, with a shaped top and rounded mouldings, with fluted pilasters either side. The large base has similar pilasters again and finishes on bracket feet. Serviced and working.
