As you might know, we have great admiration for Whytock & Reid furniture due to the quality of the cabinetmaking, the finest woods, and the designs of Sir Robert Lorimer. So much so, that in 2022 we bought the name to promote and preserve this fantastic Edinburgh furniture makers’ legacy. With that, we are always on the lookout for more stock, and are delighted to share with you an amazing collection of quality pieces that we were lucky to get lately. Whytock & Reid was founded in 1807 by Richard Whytock and John Reid in Edinburgh, who established themselves as the leading high-quality cabinetmakers of Scottish furniture until the company closed doors in 2004. Alongside furnishing the great palaces, castles, and houses of Scotland, they also furnished the liners of the Clyde and the board rooms of St Andrew’s Square.Notably, they had a long and fruitful working partnership with architect and designer Sir Robert Lorimer, and were one of only two companies in the world to hold a Royal Warrant continuously for over 150 years.
Today, Whytock & Reid furniture is highly sought after and is increasing in rarity value. By owning the Whytock & Reid name we want to honour the craftsmanship of the pieces with the aim that they remain highly valued for years to come.
