Featured Stock: Antique Music Stands
This week we want to show you another collection of unique antiques – that being our music stands.
Music stands are fantastically functional pieces, designed to hold sheets of music upright and in position for ease of reading while playing. Because users will be moving between seating and standing positions while practicing or performing, most music stands are adjustable to accommodate this. There is evidence of music stands dating from as early as 200 BC, and though our stock is not quite that old, the rare Regency adjustable duet stand as first featured below is over 200 years old (dated circa 1815). What is also impressive about this piece is its functionality thanks to the adjustability together with the original candle scones which can move in multiple directions. Along with details such as the dragooned collar and neat beading, it looks just as elegant as the sound of the music many of our talented customers play.
